Exhibition: John J. Hodgeson Miniature House Collection

I visited Hever Castle for my birthday and got to visit John Guthrie’s collection of miniature houses. In 1989 he commissioned John J. Hodgeson, master English miniaturist furniture maker, to create a number of English Country houses that would reflect the architectural features, furniture, interiors and ways of life through time. The models are within a permanent exhibition designed by Robin Wade & Pat Read Design Associates. These houses range from Tudor to Victorian Times.

This was such an incredible display of craftsmanship and attention to detail. I also loved the fact that it was dedicated to a niche are of interest: English Country Houses. I think seeing this exhibit will help me in the future when looking at scenes and backgrounds; How characters interact with their environments, as well as scale/proportions. These models especially relate well to my work with 3D animation. Below are my pictures from the day! I’m so happy I got to see this as I was literally struck by how amazing the concept and execution of this project is.
